Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions before booking? You’re definitely not the only one. Whether you need a once-off deep clean, help getting a home back under control, a specialised clean or ongoing commercial cleaning, we’ve answered some of the questions we hear most often below.
What is included in a deep clean?
That’s completely up to you and what your home needs. We don’t believe every home needs the same checklist. Our deep cleans are tailored around your property, your priorities and the areas that need the most attention. This could include showers, bathrooms, kitchens, ovens, walls, windows, flooring, cupboards, pantries, linen cupboards and areas with significant built-up grime. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, that’s okay too. We can help you work out what will make the biggest difference.
Do you offer regular weekly or fortnightly residential cleaning?
Not at this stage. Murray’s Cleaning Group specialises in deep cleaning and specialised cleaning rather than regular residential maintenance cleaning. We’re the team you call when your home needs more than the usual vacuum, mop and bathroom clean.
I already have a regular cleaner. What makes Murray’s different?
You don’t need to choose between us! Your regular cleaner is there to maintain your home. We can step in periodically to tackle the bigger jobs that don’t always fit into a regular cleaning service. Think deep cleaning showers and bathrooms, walls, ovens, kitchens, windows, flooring, pantries, cupboards and built-up grime. We can give everything a proper reset, then your regular cleaner can continue maintaining it.
Can I book a deep clean every few months?
Absolutely. Some clients book us for a once-off clean while others create a deep cleaning schedule throughout the year. This might be every three months, six months or around times that work for your family. Some families align their deep cleans with the school holidays as an easy way to remember when the next one is due. We can create a schedule around your needs rather than locking you into a service you don’t need.
Can I just have one room or area deep cleaned?
Absolutely. You don’t have to book a whole-home clean. You might need some extra help tackling a bathroom, kitchen, oven, walls, windows or another area that has become difficult to manage. Tell us what you need help with and we can tailor the scope around it.
Do I need to clean or tidy before you arrive?
No! Please don’t feel like you need to clean for the cleaners. We’re there because you’ve asked for help. Seeing the property as it normally is can also help our team understand where the time and attention are really needed. If there are personal, valuable or fragile belongings you would prefer us not to handle, we recommend putting those somewhere safe before our team arrives.
How long will my deep clean take?
It depends on the property and what you’d like us to achieve. Some cleans can be completed within several hours while larger or more detailed cleans may require a full day or multiple days. We’ll provide an estimated timeframe when we prepare your quote and keep you updated if anything changes once we begin.
Can I stay home while you clean?
Ideally, we prefer the home to be vacant while our team completes a deep clean. Deep cleaning can involve professional chemicals and equipment, so having the space available allows our team to work efficiently while managing OH&S requirements. If you need or would prefer to remain home, please let us know. We can create a plan around you and work through different areas of the property. Depending on the circumstances, this may mean the clean takes a little longer.
Do you supply all the chemicals and equipment?
Yes. Our team arrives with the professional cleaning products, equipment and PPE required for your agreed clean. Because we specialise in deep and specialised cleaning, the products and equipment we bring will depend on the surfaces, contamination and type of cleaning being completed. You don’t need to supply anything unless we’ve specifically discussed it with you beforehand.
I’m embarrassed about how bad my home has become. Will you judge me?
Absolutely not. We understand that homes can become overwhelming for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes life gets busy. Sometimes circumstances change. Sometimes things gradually build up until you simply don’t know where to start. Our team works in homes in all different conditions. We’re not walking through your door to judge how things got there. We’re there to help you work out what happens next. You don’t need to clean before we arrive and you certainly don’t need to apologise to us.
I don’t actually know what type of clean I need. Can you help?
Absolutely. You don’t need to know the difference between a deep clean, specialised clean or any of the cleaning terminology before contacting us. Tell us what’s happening, which areas are worrying you and what you’d like to achieve. We can help determine what type of clean is needed, what should be prioritised and the best way to tackle it. Sometimes making the enquiry is the hardest part. We’ll help with the rest.
Can you help with hoarding, excessive clutter or a home that has become overwhelming?
Yes. These cleans require a very different approach to a standard cleaning service. We’ll talk with you about what needs to happen, what your priorities are and how involved you’d like to be throughout the process. Our approach is respectful and non-judgemental. We understand we’re working with someone’s home and belongings, not simply “rubbish”.
Can you help sort and pack belongings during a hoarding clean or deceased estate?
Yes. Our team can assist with sorting, packing and organising belongings. Depending on the circumstances, we can work through items to identify what needs to be kept, donated, disposed of or set aside for review. Pricing for sorting and packing will depend on the location, volume of belongings and level of sorting required. We’ll discuss this with you before work begins.
Will you throw things away without asking me?
No. Before a clean involving sorting or rubbish removal begins, we’ll establish what can be disposed of and what needs to be kept or reviewed. We understand that something which looks unimportant to someone else could be incredibly important to you. If our team finds personal documents, photographs, money, jewellery, sentimental belongings or something we’re unsure about, we’ll put it aside for review rather than making that decision for you.
Do you remove rubbish once you have cleaned?
Yes. Rubbish removal can be included as part of your service. We have utes and trailers available to assist with removing rubbish and unwanted items from the property. The cost will depend on the amount and type of waste, disposal requirements and applicable tip or waste fees. We’ll discuss this as part of your quote so you understand what is included.
What if my home has mould, rodent droppings, bodily fluids, sharps or other contamination?
Please tell us when you enquire. It doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t take the job. It means we need to approach it differently. Murray’s Cleaning Group specialises in environments that can require more than a standard cleaning approach. Depending on what is present, we may require specific PPE, equipment, cleaning products, disposal methods or additional safety procedures. Giving us as much information as possible helps us properly assess the job, keep everyone safe and arrive prepared. If you’re not sure exactly what you’re dealing with, that’s okay too. Tell us what you’ve noticed and we can help determine the next step.
What happens if you find something unexpected during the clean?
Sometimes we don’t know exactly what we’re dealing with until we get into the clean. Our team may uncover mould, rodent contamination, bodily fluids, sharps, pest activity, damaged surfaces or other issues that weren’t visible or known when the job was quoted. If we find something that changes the scope or requires a different cleaning process, we’ll assess the situation and contact you before undertaking significant additional work or costs outside the agreed scope. Our priority is keeping everyone safe while keeping you informed along the way.
Can you guarantee every stain, mark or odour will come out?
Unfortunately, no. We’d rather be upfront about that from the beginning. Deep cleaning can make an incredible difference, but cleaning cannot reverse permanent damage or deterioration. Long-term staining, mould staining, urine, nicotine or smoke residue, aged paint, damaged surfaces and deeply absorbed odours may remain even after thorough cleaning and treatment. We’ll always aim for the best possible result and let you know when we believe something may need repairing, replacing, repainting or further treatment rather than more cleaning.
Can you work with my support worker, family member, property manager or support coordinator?
Absolutely. With your permission, we’re happy to work alongside the other people involved in supporting you or managing the property. This could include family members, support workers, support coordinators, property managers, case managers or other relevant professionals. Having everyone on the same page can make larger or more complex cleans much easier to coordinate.
Do you work with NDIS participants?
Yes. We work with NDIS participants and their support networks where cleaning services are appropriate to the participant’s circumstances and funding arrangements. We can also communicate with support coordinators, plan managers and other members of the participant’s support team where permission has been provided.
Can you help prepare a property for sale?
Absolutely. We can tailor a deep clean around getting a property ready for sale, photography, inspection or handover. Depending on the condition of the property, this could include kitchens, bathrooms, ovens, walls, cupboards, windows, flooring and other areas requiring additional attention. We can also assist with sorting and rubbish removal where required. We’ll work with you to prioritise the areas that will make the biggest difference to the presentation of the property.
Will you take photos or videos inside my home?
Yes. Our team may take before, during and after photos as part of our internal job documentation. This allows us to document the original condition of the property, work completed and finished result. It also forms part of our quality assurance and reporting processes. These images are stored within our internal business systems, including Connecteam, and are not automatically used for social media or marketing.
Will photos or videos of my home be put on social media?
Not without your consent. We love showing the work our team does, but we also understand that we’re working inside people’s homes and sometimes during very personal circumstances. Clients complete a consent form before cleaning commences which establishes whether photos or videos can be used for social media or marketing purposes. You are completely welcome to say no. Saying no to social media will not affect the service or level of care you receive from our team. Our internal job documentation and social media content are treated separately.
Do you offer commercial cleaning?
Yes. We provide commercial cleaning for businesses and organisations throughout our service area. Rather than applying the same checklist to every workplace, we create a cleaning scope around your premises, operating hours and requirements.
How often should my commercial space be cleaned?
There isn’t one answer that suits every business. It depends on your space, foot traffic, staff numbers, operating hours and how the premises are used. We can create a cleaning schedule around your workplace and the level of cleaning required.
Can our commercial cleaning scope be customised?
Absolutely. We’ll work with you to understand which areas need attention, how often they need cleaning and what matters most to your team. Your cleaning scope is then built around your workplace rather than using a generic checklist that may include things you don’t need.
Can you clean our business after hours?
Yes. Many of our commercial cleans are completed outside normal operating hours so our team can work without disrupting your staff or customers. Timing will depend on the property, access requirements, cleaning scope and our team’s availability.
Do you work weekends?
Our standard services are generally completed during the week. However, we understand that some situations can’t wait. Urgent or emergency weekend cleaning may be available depending on our team’s availability. Weekend and after-hours services may have an increased investment due to applicable staffing and Award rates.
Do you clean windows and carpets?
Yes, depending on the property and scope. Our team can complete single-storey window cleaning and smaller carpet cleaning requirements as part of a larger cleaning service. For work outside our capabilities or equipment, we may recommend another local provider who specialises in that service.
Which areas do you service?
Murray’s Cleaning Group is based in Shepparton and services Greater Shepparton, the Goulburn Valley and surrounding areas. If you’re outside our usual service area, still reach out. Depending on the type and size of the job, we may be able to travel to you.
What happens if I’m not happy with something after the clean?
Please contact us. We take pride in the work our team completes and want you to feel comfortable raising something if it doesn’t seem right. We’ll listen to your concern, review the work completed and determine the most appropriate next step.
Still not sure where to start?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need to know exactly what service to book or have the perfect cleaning checklist ready. Tell us what’s happening, what you’re struggling with and what you’d like the property to look and feel like when we’re finished. We’ll help you work out the rest.
